24 June 2015
On 23 and 24 June, CoInnovate took place in Cardiff, a flagship event designed to bring the world’s leading innovators together in the spirit of collaboration.
The event was attended by academics and businesses, from Small-and-Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) to multinationals, with a shared drive for open innovation. The focus was to bring all organisations, large and small, to work together and align resources in order to develop new technologies and bring products to market faster.
General Dynamics UK was a partner of CoInnovate, which was the first event of its kind to merge an open innovation conference with engaging workshops. Over the two days, investors, academia, SMEs and industrial representatives shared best practices, pitched technologies and explored real business-led challenges presented by Airbus, GE Healthcare and General Dynamics UK.
A number of guest speakers presented, including Professor Eugene Fitzgerald from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Rob Rolley, Technology Director, gave a presentation on the importance of innovation at General Dynamics UK, and gave an insight into EDGE UK® and how it operates, including some of the recent successes.
Within the workshops, there were a number of challenges that are currently faced by the defence industry which General Dynamics UK shared with the attendees, so that potential solutions could be looked at. The response was very strong, and the EDGE UK is now following up with a number of companies.
